IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Dear fellow Solivita Democrats,
According to the New York Times, on 14 January 2022 more than 155,900 Americans are hospitalized with Covid-19, a record high that even surpasses last winter’s surge. The Poinciana Medical Center (PMC) across the street from Solivita has had and has more than its fair share of cases, including many from Solivita, in addition to all its regular hospital duties and functions. We are all painfully aware that the dedicated women and men on staff there have been going above and beyond for more two years now and they are frazzled, to put it mildly. It’s time for us to thank them.

The SWANS (Solivita Women’s Action Network) invite the Solivita Democratic Club to join us in raising funds to provide a boxed meal or two for a night shift (those who work from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. when the cafeteria is closed). We are coordinating with the assistant to PMC’s CEO and a Board member, who have provided us with the number of staff in each department of the hospital, right down to security and the janitorial staff. There are now 75 employees on the night shift, up from 50 two years ago when the pandemic started.

I’m happy to coordinate the fund-raising efforts for both the SDC and the SWANS, including being accountable for all donations, liaising with PMC and arranging for the delivery of the meals.

Please consider joining forces to thank the hospital heroes across the street from us. Donations will be accepted until 31 January and can be made by check, cash, Paypal, Venmo or Zelle.
