Most of us are past the “get the kids to school” phase of life. So why should we concern ourselves with what’s going on in the local schools? Well, consider the following information from University of Florida Graduate Brent Radcliffe currently working as an analyst:
- A community’s education system has a direct effect on its economy.
- Communities with a better educated workforce draw more businesses.
- Areas with educated workforces grow at a faster pace than those without.
- Educated workers earn higher wages which they in turn spend in their communities resulting in better service for the entire community.
That’s why we’ve invited Polk County Schools Superintendent Kathryn LeRoy to speak at our October General Membership Meeting. She will discuss the current state of the county’s school system, her vision for its future, and how we as voters can help direct its course.
This should be an informative meeting. If you want a thriving community that attracts good jobs as compared to a depressed economy with low wages and minimal services, you should not miss the October meeting because you are an important player in our community’s economic growth.
